Web24 lug 2024 · I know lots of people with 37s and the 4.10 gears and loving it. I have 39s and have the 4.88s. I absolutely love it! Feels a hair over stock and MPG is amazing at mixed driving with 17.5 all day long! the 8-speed is amazing but with this transmission you don't have to go as high with the gears like the JK. With the exception of the stock gears, all gears deeper than 4.10 have been made by the same overseas supplier. Until now. They are the safe bet. 4.88s are a good choice if you see mostly 2 lane (45mph-65) but may be too much if you regularly run interstate speeds. Web26 apr 2024 · Stock gears and manual transmission you should stick to 33s. A Rubicon take-off suspension will give you a little lift very economically. If you get 35s you should get a full lift and re-gear. It's a big investment. I wheel with 33s and a Rubi suspension. I spent 10 years thinking that Rubicon's 4.10 gears with 35s were OK. They are....OK. 4.56 gears are better with 35s if you like words like squirt, responsive, torque. The ratios with a 5.13 first on a 3.73 rear end and 35's (your proposed setup) is very slightly taller than what a stock 6MT Tacoma is in first gear so it's not like you're going to be causing massive wear getting started.
